Picture Parts

Broken people painting, to them, whole pictures
which are all messy parts of the same important story,
picture parts all based on limited vision but this common inherent feeling of ‘greater’
and elusive knowledge of ‘whole’,
almost a nostalgia of a foreshadowing sort.
See, it seems sparked by the collective memory, remembrance of things they’ve never done, and homesickness for places they’ve never been.
And these nevers are not for lack of trying. These nevers are due to, on the part of the memories and places, lack of existence.
And this nonexistence is not for lack of seeking, because we’ve found it.
We just can’t touch it. But we feel it. We can’t see it, but it’s burned in our minds like the spots of sun in your eye once you look down at your shoes after making eye contact with fire.
So it exists.
But only to the point of proving itself to the individual. The broken person. Who then picks up a paintbrush to try and see what we’re seeing.

The more important your picture is to paint, the deeper the struggle to touch your brush to the canvas.

Summer Summary

“Whole Lotta You” -A Rocket To The Moon
“Is Your Love Big Enough?” -Lianne La Havas
“On Top Of The World” -Imagine Dragons
“TipToes” -Jayme Dee
“The Diamond Church Street Choir” -Gaslight Anthem
“Now Is The Start” -A Fine Frenzy

A Rocket To The Moon is audibly vibing Nick Santino’s affinity for folk; they’re chasing wild & free summer jams through a cool filter of cozy earthiness.
this song feels like fringe swaying as hips move from side to side.

I like claps and guitar and soul; can you tell by this playlist? close your eyes & bask. this Lianne track is the slow warmth of the sun on your cheeks.

Imagine Dragons’ whole EP rules. this song feels like night air streaming through your fingers as they fan out of a moving convertible.

A long, long time ago, I posted a Cooler Than Me cover by Jayme Dee. now she’s signed, touring, & her new song TipToes is balancing out this playlist, on the cheekyfuncrushsong front.
this is the drippy strawberry ice cream streaming down the cone towards your sticky fingers.

this Gaslight Anthem track is irresistibly snappy.
here’s the sound of the door shutting behind you as your backpack jumps with every hurried step towards adventure.

Now Is The Start chases away that “summer’s ending” feeling, whilst still being mellow enough to invite you on her journey. this song is a mason jar of fireflies in no hurry to dim.

what songs sum up your summer?

Varúð

this morning’s fog was burned away by the latest collaborative art video in Sigur Ros’ Valtari Mystery Film Experiment, featuring the work of
NYC photographer Ryan McGinley.

“This piece is my poem to New York City. I wanted to bring a childhood innocence to the streets, through a character whose own light and wonder effects the world around her. I’m always interested in an atmosphere where dreams and reality mingle on equal terms.”

but WHY

would The Hush Sound finally go back on tour…

[yayyyyyyy!!]

AND NOT COME TO CALIFORNIA?!

oh.. so many feelings.

none of them good.

this is like a thing. it’s a thing, that happens wayy too often. is it just me or have you experienced this tragic misfortune?

favourite band; announcing long-awaited tour dates; farthest possible venues from you. MY CREYS.

Migraine

“Am I the only one I know

waging my wars behind my face & above my throat?

Shadows will scream that I’m alone,

but I know we’ve made it this far, kid.” |-/

Throughout the course of teenagehood [of which I have less than 10 months left… bizarre.], your mental concept of situational proportions play ebb and flow ratio tricks on your heart. The little daytoday problems that you won’t remember when you’re thirty [much less next year] are paramount, hogging all your care so there’s none left for the big stuff: terrors of the world, definitions of justice & concepts of value, questions of existence, a reallyreally good warm slice of pizza… those sorts of things.

“Behind my eyelids are islands of violence…”

you sort of get trapped inside this labyrinth. it’s like, the harder you’re thinking, the tighter it shuts out the relevance. the closer you’re looking, the more you’re missing

  • “Migraine” -Twenty | One | Pilots
  • “Demons” -Imagine Dragons
  • “Free My Mind” -Katie Herzig
  • “Spinning” -Jack’s Mannequin
  • “The War Inside” -Switchfoot
  • “The Lion, The Beast, The Beat” -Grace Potter & The Nocturnals
I think [too often. too densely. too critically, & too hypocritically, & too cyclically, & definitely I think too “too”. I think I get lost in thought & just when I think I’ve found the crumpled map, I’ve discovered it’s written in invisible ink… I think.] that it’s important to not get trapped in your mind.
