my mosaic.

that awkward moment…

…when you haven’t seen We Bought A Zoo because you don’t get out much, but you bought the soundtrack because Jónsi scored it and he can pretty much do no musical wrong by you, so even though you act for a career and should probably care more about the actual viewing of a movie, you’re pretty content having solely heard the story by way of an Icelandic beast’s amazing composition.

[regarding soundtrack movies I only watched audibly, see also: Tron via Daft Punk.]

tendertetra asked: I find myself strongly attracted to you in a romantic manner. I have like, three different crushes on you. I don't want to creep you out or nothin' (and I hear you got a boyfriend or something)... But I feel like you deserve the world. He should treat you like a princess. Send you flowers and stuff. That's what I would do... if you were my girlfriend.

dear prince,

thank you for your kind words. he does.

it’s a lucky girl who receives flowers from you. stay lovely.

victoriousheartstring asked: "Nobody said it was easy.." has got to be one of my favorites so far. I have a good feeling about this guy. I think he's great, & I'm saying this though he's still completely anonymous. Your one-of-a-kind love will make far, & I believe that. Fight your love for yourselves and for me in the future. And I love your blog. It's like the story of the other side of you we don't know completely about, which adds to me liking your quite mysterious life. God bless.

it took a lot for me to believe in love, and maybe I’ll write more about that sometime. but, thank God, i’ve been proven wrong.

i fight for what I believe in. almost as strongly as he does.

thank you.

chumbukkit asked: Okay, now please, don't be annoyed with me if you see my name appear in your ask box more than once or twice. But every time I read your blog (just made the mistake of doing that now) I feel all inspired and empowered and now I'm sitting here in my bedroom in Toronto and looking out into the midnight sky and dreaming about something more and - goodness me, what am I supposed to do about this? I need your assistance. I need to learn how to fit a lasso around my dreams and pull 'em close to me.

what a wonderful thing to inspire! I’m incredibly humbled.

so, the good news is that’s the core of it. let that spark set you aflame, and start looking for things and places and opportunities to create so when it becomes a roar, you’ve paved a path to travel. at that point, look forward, but don’t forget that the road you’re traveling should be paved with dreams. ya know, it’s not the destination, it’s the journey. that whole thing. I don’t know you, or where you’re going, or how. but you’ve got it. I believe in you. best wishes, dude.

smilewhileyousing asked: Hi. I really like reading your blog because you make me realize that everyone thinks weird and wonderful things about the universe and music like I do. It's made the world a much prettier place :)

not everyone. but there’s plenty of us, and we’re none the same, and that’s the beauty. stay wondrous.

-roadtrip asked: I think that you are an amazing writer. Reading your posts makes me want to go out and live life to the fullest. Kudos to you.

that rules. do it. grab life by the face and kiss it on the mouth.

blueskiesandlullabies asked: Steady As She Goes by Sky Sailing. I heard this song and thought you would like it:) x

just bought it. good call(: thank you kindly.

scubaflying asked: You are an amazing writer. Just an fyi in case nobody has informed you of this obvious fact. kbai.

you are an amazing human. I’m glad you think so. I blushed. kbai.

“Nobody said it was easy..”

the laughter rings through the wooden restaurant, like we were the only ones in there. we very well could’ve been if you asked us. silence fills our dwindling smiles; joy fading to mellow from the shared laugh just a moment ago. down to my hand, tucked inside his, he spoke in a voice from which the laughter’s now faded, “do me one favour, love?” captivated by his shift, I inquire “hm?” he waits. through the tops of my lashes, I slide my curious eyes into his. he answers, “remember this.” he uncurls his fingers, just to slide them through the windows between mine. “remember how good this is.. what we have. it’ll get hard, you know that.” and I do know that. we haven’t seen the difficulty, and the tragedy, and the frustration. he sees it crawl from my mind into my skin. “..so let’s fight it. fight for it together. because it won’t be easy, but don’t waste time fighting each other. let’s not make it harder than it has to be. fight beside each other, for this. love, just… remember this.”

down to our hands, woven tight and warm, I promised I’d remember.

“Three things will last forever- faith, hope, and love- and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

if that’s life, to love and love genuinely, purely, & strong.. it won’t be easy, and it won’t be painless. but it’ll be beautiful. be wise about it. it’s valuable. but when you do, when you love, love with all you have. you won’t be emptied out.

three things last forever, and love is the greatest of the deathless.

dear Ed Sheeran,

you can cover Skinny Love anytime. for serious. Birdy, you too.

but Ed, not only do I appreciate the ginger-ness of your nature, your vocal chords are a delicious sort of lovely.

also, your Wonderwall cover…

!!!!!!!!!!!

okay, thanks.

it’s not the first time I’ve written about insomnia

and it wont be the last. something about the dark places in the sky where the moonlight is not just draws the words from my insides. i think they were harboring somewhere under my ribcage, and got stuck in my throat on the way out. but out they swim, into the room that feels like a night breeze, despite all the wool. they swirl around, and some of them strike my eardrums, and they find each other. like magnets, they find the ones they belong beside. like yarn, they knot themselves up into a sentence.

I’ll wear them like a story, and dress up in a tale of imagination. of what? imagining what? itself. each other. more words. they dance. it’s letters, buzzing around in the hive of my midnight labyrinth mind. out of the shadows, out of the thorns, come words from those letters. which sift like a hand in a barrel of dry beans or a bag of rice, sift for the ones they belong after, and belong before. how to tell their story. i sit in a word trance, a helpless vessel to myself and The Artist, and I knit these words. they wait for the brisk penstrokes to catch up, for I’m just barely not quick enough, and they loop around. patiently they repeat and repeat, again and again, but annoyingly so, they loop.

and i look at florescent lights. and the air hits my lungs, and the last few words trickle out like trembling crumbs at the bottom of the crumpled bag. and just like that.

loops in the word-yarn.

anyway,

that’s why I write.

Somewhere Only We Know

we could go away together. why don’t we stay in together? we’d acknowledge that we haven’t seen the dark places, & we acknowledge that that’s fine, cuz there’s something shadowy about the lightness that tells me that for that moment, I know what I need to know. so why can’t we hide from the world together, & be so ourselves that we don’t even feel at home, like we’re meeting a stranger we’ve known our whole lives? together?

“No Shelter” -Katie Costello

I met a dude named Adam on the set of a movie I shot a few months back, and all we did was play Uke & sing. This was one of the little songs we’d all jam to.

Also, Zooey Deschanel can do no wrong in my book. She’s one of my career inspirations, but also her steez is just unparalleled.
